I went vegan purely because of ethics and as a new vegan had no idea about the health aspects of veganism! I lost some weight in the initial few weeks but eventually returned to my normal weight as I started eating more vegetables, fruit, and nuts to “compensate for the nutrition I was missing out after removing animal products from my diet.” [The truth is humans have no requirement for animal products; it’s actually unhealthy! More info on this here.]
A few months down the line something weird started happening—people who I was meeting after a long while observed that I actually seemed healthier than before! My skin was clearing up, I felt more energetic, and even my PMS related issues weren’t as severe as they once were. That’s when I started looking up the health aspects of veganism online and learned that when properly planned, a vegan diet is, in fact, a very healthy one for people of all age groups 🙂
Countless people have even reversed serious health issues as a result of adopting a plant-based diet. And there are numerous athletes, mountaineers, and body-builders who are vegan. Don’t believe me? Just Google for examples!
So yeah, a well-planned vegan diet can be very healthy for you!
